How to Set Up the Orca Forum
*Note: I noticed that when I was creating forums, that the date kep saying it was created on Dec 31, 1969. However, when I add a topic, it gives the correct date.
Requirements
You need to make sure you have the correct set up. Orca installs have been plagued with people not understanding that you need the proper set up to begin.
Orca is based on the following concept:
GROUP > FORUM > Posts, replies and topics.
This is a bit different from other forums where the root is the forum. Orca organizes Groups. This makes the forum experience near limitless.
Instructions
1. Login to your admin panel.
2. Go to Plugins > Orca Forum
3. Under the heading Plugins, click on the Orca Forums link. It should take you to the Orca forum as an admin. you can tell you are an admin because at the top right hand corner, it should say, "Hello, admin!".
Before anyone can post a reply you need to set up the forum. You will see just under the section title "Forums" the "Manage Forum" link. Click on it so we can manage the forum.
Once there, click on the New Group button. You will get a dialog box asking you what you want to name your new group. Enter you group name. In our example, just put it "Hello Group". On success, you will get a "New group has been succesfully added" message (or something similar). Click the ok button.
The "Hello Group" you just created should appear at the bottom of the page. You can put it at the very top by clicking on the order UP and DOWN buttons. Try it now and put the "Hello Group" to the very top of the page.
The next thing you need to do is to add a forum. If you do not add a forum, users will not be able to post and reply. To do that, click on the "new forum" button. It is to the right of the delete (x) button. Click on it and yo will get a dialog box titled "New Form" asking for the Forum titlee, Forum Description and the type. For now we want to make a public forum. The private will require a login.
Once you do that, you can then add posts and replies.
Click on the "Admin Panel" link to go back to the admin panel.
