Boonex Basics - How to Install Dolphin 6.0.0003 (Video Tutorial)
This video tutorial shows a step-by-step on how to install Dolphin 6.0.0003..
Requirements
1. You need to download Dolphin. The version we are using is Dolphin 6.0. The download link name is Dolphin 6.0 + Free Ray 3.0 + Orca 1.2 (8 Mb). At the time of this writing I was using 6.0.0003.
You can download it from http://www.boonex.com/products/dolphin/download/
2. Hosting that has mySQL and a way to administer it. I typically use phpMyAdmin or cpanel. For this tutorial I used cpanel.
3. You need to be able to ftp files over to the server. I use FileZilla. It is free and you can drag and drop files very easily to your target directories. You can download it from http://filezilla-project.org/
4. You have to understand the basics of setting file permissions on the server. You can set permissions using cpanel. It is also possible to set file permissions via your ftp program. I've had good success doing it with WSFtp and Filezilla as well.
Quick Overview
Step 1 - Download Dolphin 6 and save it to a location where you know you will find it.
Step 2 - Find the file and unzip it to the current directory. When you unzip it, you should have a folder named "Dolphin-v.6.0.0003-Free.
Step 3 - Launch your ftp program and connect to your server domain. You will need to ftp the folder you just created "dolphin" to your server so we can install it. The upload can take a while so during the upload process, you can set up the database.
Step 4 - For this tutorial, I will be using cpanel to create my database.
Step 5 - Once the files have finished uploading, you should launch your browser and go to the install location of Dolphin 6. For this tutorial, I placed it underneath my domain so that it read http://www.jamestadeo.ca/dolphin6/install/index.php

Addendum
In the video the mySQL database name is not the actual name of the database I made.
In the last video, the notation about the "install" folder is repeated. That one was a second take. |
