Torque and the F11 Mystery
I posted this question regarding the F11 key press to activate the editors in Torque
“I want to edit a mission. I hit F11 and I am not able to go into the editor. I’ve different combinations using control, shift, etc. whilst pressing F11 and it is a no go. I can get in to the gui editor using F10. Anyone know why the F11 does not appear to work on Mac? Thanks.”
Paul Scott from GG was kind enough to answer by sending me to this link.
Rubes says, “F10 and F11 are preset to enable Expose features. Just disable them in the System Preferences under “Dashboard & Expose” and they’ll work in Torque. As for making it fullscreen, you’ll need to create a text file called “maccmdline.txt” and put it in your root folder alongside the TorqueDemo application. The file should contain the following:
torqueDemo -fullscreen
Should work then.”
Step 1
Launch the system preferences from the dashboard. Oh btw, that is faux fur in the background.

Step 2
You will see the following screen. Find Expose and launch it. It is circled in red in the screen shot.

Step 3
Disable the key commands. Before this screen capture was made, the drop down menus had a set of keys assigned. I just chose not to have any.

It is amazing the resource available at GarageGames.com. For a mere $100 you get an Indie License and access to tons of information. I am so impressed by the responsiveness of the community as well. Overall, I count it as one of my favourite Web destinations.
Uhm, and no, I am by no means affiliated with GG nor am I a reseller. It is hard to ignore good value when I see it. This is one of very few I have come across in my computing life.
*cough* … feeling a little sick today…
ADDENDUM: Actually the same thing can happen to a PC keyboard! I purchased a new Logitech super fancy keyboard a few months ago and noticed the same problem. Well it seems that there was an “F Lock” key that changes the way the F Keys work. So to get it working, I had to press the “F Lock” key that located on the top left corner of keyboard.
